Course Description
Got butterflies?
Are you standing still with your eyes closed when you sing?
Are you avoiding eye contact?
Do you only sing in the car?
Dream about an effortless performance that moves the crowd?
Performance is more than sound it also includes calming your nerves, engaging the audience, moving and using the whole stage.
In this interactive class you’ll get to try techniques that help you:

Master your nerves

Guidelines
We will create a safe space to explore our authentic emotions in front of people.
Please:
-
No video or audio taping during class. (You may record only your own first and last performance)
-
No criticism of others, let the coach do the coaching.
-
Do not discuss other's work in this class on social media. You can share your own journey but not someone else's.
-
Be supportive and encouraging
-
Recognize you are not in competition with others to be the best. Your competition is only how you did the last time you sang or spoke.
We will strive to support the real emotions that you chose to explore in the class. No one will bully you into an emotion to make you angry or make you cry and then sing. (I've been in those classes). This isn’t that kind of acting class.

What Song To Sing
-
Karaoke track of 2 songs – 1 ballad & 1 fast song. Send these to Jenn prior to the first class. You can buy karaoke tracks here.
-
Pick songs you love with emotions you want to work on in front of others
-
AVOID songs with too much repetition. For example: "Feel Like Making Love" by Bad Company repeats that line about 20 times at the outro. Or "Cupid Shuffle" by Cupid. "To the left, to the left" etc, repeats over and over. (Note: later, once you've got the basics mastered, we can work on how to handle repetition like this).
-
Make a note of the time of Verse, Chorus & Bridge (so we can work on parts)
-
Memorize all the words (this is a must)
-
Learn the chorus of "Let It Be" by The Beatles – we will use it in 1st class to warm up and illustrate a few concepts
What Topic To Talk About - For Speakers or Trainers
-
Pick a 2 topics you can speak about for 3 minutes
without notes -
Bring 1 serious topic and 1 lighter topic
-
Print an outline for Jenn of the 2 topics
-
Learn the chorus of "Let It Be" by The Beatles – we
will use it in 1st class to warm up and illustrate a
few concepts. You don't have to be a good singer.
We are totally gonna mess with this song!
