Scrumptious Fine Dining on Pine Island

The drive up the island starts out like any other—you’re cruising up Stringfellow. Then you turn left onto Pineland, and as the road winds, something shifts. Another world quietly emerges.

By the time you pull into Tarpon Lodge, it feels like you’ve stepped into a different era. The sprawling lawn practically begs for a croquet match. You half expect someone to say,

“Nobody puts Baby in a corner.”

Have you just wandered onto the set of Dirty Dancing?

Kind of.

Food & Drinks

You’ve got two solid options here:

  • Downstairs: A laid-back outdoor bar serving drinks and light bites until just before sunset

  • Upstairs: A charming dining room (plus a tiny bar) offering a more elevated experience

The upstairs restaurant is a real treat—think classic Florida charm with a touch of elegance. Reservations are a good idea, especially if you want a sunset table (and you do).

The Vibe

The crowd leans toward “island chic meets quiet luxury.” Nothing stuffy—but yes, people made an effort. Linen, sundresses, button-downs. You’ll fit right in if you do the same.

Our Experience

We went just for apps & cocktails and ordered: charcuterie, salad, soup, cocktails—and lingered through one of those golden Pine Island sunsets that makes time slow down a bit.

It’s romantic. It’s peaceful. It’s the kind of place that turns a regular evening into something memorable.

For us, it’s a go-to for birthdays and anniversaries… not an every-week spot, but absolutely worth the splurge.

Tips from an Islander

  • Come hungry—you’ll want room for apps, entrée, and dessert

  • Dress up just a scoosh (you’ll be glad you did)

  • Make a reservation—especially for sunset

  • Arrive early for parking and take a stroll around the grounds and dock

  • They do have Gluten Free Options
